GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- It's been said, birds of a feather flock together and the latest addition to the Golden Valley Animal Humane Society is living proof, no matter the feather type.
"It's not usual that we see two species like this," said Deb Balzer of the Humane Society.
A man found the pair when they walked up his driveway.
"He came in and said, 'Hey, we've got this young chick and this young duck and they seem to be pals' and we're like, 'Oh sure, okay,'" said Balzer.
It was obvious to him the pair had a bond, it became much clearer to everybody else when the two were separated.
"They didn't like that," Balzer said. "They were very vocal, they were very distressed."
So for the past week, it's been Thelma the duck and yes, Louise the chicken, both on the run.
"If you look and watch, one goes one way and the other one's right there," pointed Balzer.
The inseparable couple were likely born at the same time, both are about four weeks ago and together they've created quite an answer to that age old question.
"I don't know to get to his duck friend," answered Balzer.
And if a duck and a chicken can get along, maybe there's something to take away from the two feathered friends.
"Just being a little different doesn't mean much," said Balzer. "They certainly love each other and it's just a good lesson for all of us that we can all get along."
Thelma and Louise are headed to Chicken Run Rescue.
