ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has ordered a review of public contracts to cut off state money to a left-leaning community organizing group now under fire.
Pawlenty's directive Wednesday pertains to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN. The potential 2012 presidential candidate says no state money will go to ACORN unless legally obligated.
The U.S. Senate has voted to block grants to the group after its employees were caught on camera appearing to advise a couple posing as a prostitute and pimp to lie about the woman's profession to get housing help.
Republicans have previously targeted ACORN over its voter-registration drives.
It's not clear what contracts Minnesota has with the group. A state budget office didn't immediately return messages.
