MINNEAPOLIS -- Sen. Al Franken, Rep. Keith Ellison and others will participate in a public discussion Friday on an effort by the White House to craft a national HIV/AIDS strategy.

The White House Office of National AIDS Policy is hosting a series of the discussions on the topic and the next stop is at 6 p.m. at the Zuhrah Shrine Event Center in Minneapolis.

A White House press release says President Barack Obama wants a policy that reduces the number of HIV cases, increases access to care and reduces HIV-related health disparities.

The director of the White House AIDS policy office, Jeffrey Crowley, is scheduled to attend.

The event is open to the public, but an RSVP is required. It can be done online at https://www.cmpinc.net/ONAP.
