Two Twin Cities men have been indicted for selling more than 15,000 misbranded drugs to customers.

Nicholas David Lundsten, 26, of Spring Lake Park and Patrick James Barron, 29, of Fridley were indicted last week with one count of introduction into interstate commerce of misbranded drugs and one count of importation of non-narcotic controlled substances.

Lundsten and Barron are charged with falsely labeling and distributed false pills labeled as Cialis, Propetia, Viagra and Levitra. All of the drugs contained the active pharmaceutical ingredients of the drugs they imitated but were not the authentic product of the manufacturer.

The indictment also alleges Lundsten and Barron imported almost 40,000 pills purporting to be Xanax and over 27,000 pills purporting to be Phentermine, a weight-loss drug.

Both counts have a maximum penalty of six years in prison.

This case is a result of an investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration - Office of Criminal Investigation.
