Authorities say a dispute with a tennant led a 57-year-old Willmar man to point a gun at another man, and then shoot and kill at least 5 puppies.

Police were called to a home in Willmar Saturday after reports of a man shooting dogs, and waving a gun around. They found Terence Dale Schwartz, the owner of the rental property, who denied pointing a pistol at anyone.

Schwartz 'did' admit that he had obtained a pistol after the complaintant, Frank Chapman, punched him in the face. He also told officers he got the gun to kill puppies that belonged to Chapman's sister, who was the renter of the property.

Of nine puppies, officers found five dead and determined that the renter, Tricia Chapman, had rushed two others to the vet for treatment.

Officers later recovered a 22 caliber pistol from Schwartz's home. He is now charged with second degree assault, and cruelty to animals.
