The lawyer for former car sales king Denny Hecker has filed a court requested document detailing where his current income is coming from. Hennepin County Family Court Judge Jay Quam had requested the information a few weeks ago after Hecker's wife Tamitha requested $7,500 per month in spousal support. Quam is handling the couple's divorce proceedings.
"First of all I feel like we're on the National Enquirer. Some of the personal business has gotten way over exposed because of the notoriety I believe," Hecker told KARE 11 on October 21st.
According to the document, filed by Hecker's lawyer Bill Skolnick, Hecker is not getting the $31,000 a month he had expected to receive after selling two of his dealerships. 2/3rds of that money is tied up in bankruptcy disputes, Skolnick writes.
Deposit records for Hecker's new company "New Dimensional Advisors" show he's deposited more than $350,000 into the business' account since late June. $100,000 came from a loan from LKMCD Properties, $50,000 came from loans from a person listed as Ralph Thomas, and roughly $25,000 was earned through "consulting fees."
"Obviously he can generate a fair amount of money even in the situation he's in because of knowledge and what he knows about the car industry," Hamline Law Professor Joe Daly said. Daly has been watching this case with interest for months.
Just how much of that money will go to Tamitha Hecker will be determined by Judge Quam in the upcoming months, but even after the ruling, Daly says the divorce case could take 2 or even 3 years. "The fact that he is in bankruptcy will double and triple everything. The cost, the time, everything," Daly explained.
