GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Ramsey County will now offer the H1N1 vaccine to any healthy person age 2 to 24 years old today.
The Ramsey County Department of Public Health previously targeted children age 2 to 9 who don't have health insurance or don't have vaccine coverage.
But after response to the clinics on Friday evening and reports from health care clinics that say they have more vaccine available, the county was able to expand eligibility for Saturday's shots.
The expansion to individuals up to age 24 years follows recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) which has designated people in this age range as a priority group based on risk.
The clinic will offer FluMist nasal vaccine which can only be given to people who don't have any underlying health conditions such as asthma or diabetes.
The number of vaccines is limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Parents in Ramsey County will need to fill out a vaccine consent form for each child before the child can be vaccinated. Those forms can be downloaded from the Ramsey County Web site.
The Ramsey County Web site also has a screening checklist for parents to determine if their child can get the FluMist nasal vaccine.
Here is the list of counties, cities, and organizations holding H1N1 vaccine clinics in the coming days:

Dakota County will cover the cost for those children who are uninsured.
When more vaccine becomes available, Dakota County Public Health staff plan to vaccinate people in other groups. Those who do not meet the age requirements, but are interested in receiving the vaccine can check for future updates at www.dakotacounty.us by searching flu vaccine or by calling Dakota County Public Health, 651-438-4777.

In addition to this clinic, Public Health will continue to offer appointments to people in high priority groups who cannot get the vaccine from their healthcare provider.
