GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- A fire left a home with heavy damage after neighbors reported hearing an explosion in the garage.

On Friday, the Eagan Fire Department was called to 2097 Cliffview Drive.  Firefighters found flames in the two car attached garage and the fire had already spread to the home itself.

The four alarm fire brought crews from all 6 Eagan fire stations and one Apple Valley crew.

Eagan Fire Chief Mike Scott says the homeowners were home at the time and were barbecuing in the garage and smelled smoke.  A neighbor then heard a loud explosion and saw the garage on fire.  All the people home were able to get outside safely and no one was injured.

Scott says firefighters were on scene until early Saturday morning and the Eagan Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
