Lino Lakes, Minn. -- It wasn't your typical police chase in the north metro Saturday night.  The perpetrators were actually cows and their only known crime was running into traffic on a heavily travelled roadway.

Just before 9 p.m., the Minnesota State Patrol received a call of two cows on Interstate 35W near Sunset Road.  Troopers called in 'backup' from the Lino Lakes Police Department and tried to corral the wayward cows.

Eventually they were able to 'steer' the cows off the road and through a fence where they ran away.

As of about 9:30 p.m., authorities were still searching for the cows believed to be in a large wooded-area somewhere between Blaine and Lino Lakes.

Authorities aren't sure where the cows came from or how they wound up on the interstate.
