'Carly Valentine' and her red wagon deliver Valentine's cheer
GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn -- A young Maple Grove girl has a big heart and is spreading cheer for people who may not get their own Valentine's holiday. Five-year-old Carly Glomstad is putting some extra love into passing out Valentine's this year. "She kept reminding us about how fun it would be to pass out goody bags and cards, to make people smile and feel special," Carly's mom Tina said. She pulls her little red wagon filled with treats, which she saved her own money to put together. Her money only got her started. Carly raised over $1,000. She donated $400 to the child care center she once attended, $200 worth in blankets for a local nursery and the rest went towards her festive gift ideas. "Happy Valentine's Day," Carly said, as she made her appearance at Kids Connection Daycare. "She's the energy and she's been driving it," said her father Jim. "It's about a little girl who went to everybody in her town and gave them goody bags to make people smile and feel special," Tina said. That's exactly what Carly did Friday. Instead of visiting everyone in her hometown, she and her family selected five places. "I can deliver goody bags to people," Carly said. Along with Kids Connection Daycare, Carly visited Golden Living Center in Wayzata. "It was really a surprise for me, I had no idea why I was getting my hair combed," resident Patricia Dempsey said. From gifts to hugs, Carly delivers an extra special Valentine's Day message to people who may need it the most. "Carly, thank you, this is beautiful," a resident said while hugging Carly. "She really loves going here and saying hello to everyone and get hugs," Tina said. "We're so proud." Carly has her very own Web site where you can learn more about her valentines.
