VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. -- April 14th is always a difficult day for Jackie Edberg. It has been a very difficult day for the past 11 years. "I didn't imagine people could just do that, just vanish," the Vadnais Heights mother of four said.

Jackie's son Nathan was 21 years old when he disappeared more than a decade ago. She hasn't seen or heard from him since a Wednesday evening dinner. "I know that evening it had started to rain and it rained the whole week," she recalled.

Edberg's pick-up truck was found by a state trooper in a ditch where I-35E and I-694 connect in Vadnais Heights. "The wipers were off, the lights were off, the car was locked, windows rolled up; there wasn't anything to indicate it was a panic situation," Jackie said.

Aside from the truck, clues into the disappearance have been hard to come by. "I think about it quite a bit," Sgt. Tom Paget of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department said. Paget was the lead on the case for almost a decade. "I looked at all I could and came up with a lot of nothing, a lot of blanks. I just never found that missing piece," he said.

The last place Nathan Edberg was seen was Decoy's in White Bear Lake. The restaurant is no longer there, but investigators say Edberg left his wallet on the bar.

Jackie Edberg does say her son was a little distressed following a break-up and his parent's divorce, but notes she could not imagine Nathan would ever walk away from his 3 younger siblings. Jackie says there have been reported sightings in Florida, Mexico, and Canada over the years, but none have led to anything concrete. "Any lead there is I will follow up on," she explained.

The search for Nathan Edberg and the search for answers are both very much alive. "Everyday I guess there is hope that the phone call, or as I pull into my driveway that you know, I'll walk through the door and he'll be there. (Hope) doesn't go away," she concluded.
