MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins fans were surprised when more than 100 people performed a surprise "flash mob" on the Target Plaza Thursday morning.
The crowd that had gathered in the plaza before the Twins game against the Boston Red Sox was surprised with a special version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and "We're Gonna Win Twins" at around 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
The flash mob quickly dispersed after their performance.
Organizers from "Meet Minneapolis" used web sites like Facebook and Craigslist to get the word out that they needed performers.
The 3 1/2 minute performance will be used to promote Minneapolis and the Twins.
A flash mob is described as a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place to perform an act and then quickly disperse.
The term flash mob usually refers to gatherings organized via social media.
