BLAINE, Minn. -- Police and wildlife officials are trying to determine a course of action after a bear was spotted in a populated area in Blaine.
Someone called 9-1-1 Tuesday morning and reported seeing the bear near the intersection of Davenport Street and 132nd Avenue Northeast.
Witnesses say it is a small black bear, estimated to be around 2 years old. It came from a wooded area neat the neighborhood, scaled a tree in a resident's front yard, and remained there as of 3:45 p.m.
Although the bear seems sleepy and calm, authorities are concerned because a crowd is gathering, which can agitate a wild animal.
