ST. PAUL, Minn. -- President Barack Obama is coming to Minneapolis to headline a rally for Democratic candidate for governor Mark Dayton.

The Dayton campaign says Obama will be in town on Saturday, Oct. 23. Details haven't been released.

Obama's visit comes after Vice President Joe Biden stumped for Dayton on Tuesday in St. Paul.

The Republicans countered Biden's visit by bringing in Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich the next day. He rallied support for Republican gubernatorial nominee Tom Emmer and the state GOP at a private fundraiser in Minneapolis.

It's been about a year since Obama has spoken in Minnesota. He discussed health care reform in September 2009 in Minneapolis.
