MINNEAPOLIS -- The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has released the identity of a man killed when a tornado tore across north Minneapolis on Sunday.
Floyd David Whitfield died of blunt-force head and neck injuries, according to the examiner. The death has been ruled an accident.
Minneapolis police said Whitfield died after a large branch apparently came through a window into his minivan. He was coming back from church with 10-year-old Jeremiah Anderson.
Anderson was stuck in the car for nearly an hour before a stranger in a jeep drove by. He was sent to North Memorial Hospital with an arm injury and is expected to be released tomorrow.
A second man collapsed and died after using a chain saw to help clear a tree from a blocked roadway after a tornado tore through north Minneapolis.
