MINNEAPOLIS -- After a little bit of a delay, it appears the change in season is in full swing across the state. Reality has finally hit those boaters who enjoyed that week of October with temps in the 80s.
"With the nice fall weather you know everybody was hanging in until the last minute, so they'll be a big rush for us now," said Bergquist of Minnetonka Boat Club and Rental.
It's nearly round the clock, non-stop work for Lake Minnetonka's marinas and boat owners. This is the so-called bread and butter time of year for boat storage owners. The toys will go through winterization and will not be seen again until spring.
It was a slow start to the golfing season, and while there are those who put their clubs away, golf courses plan to get out a few more weeks before they officially call it a year.
"We hope to keep going a few more weeks," said Ben Disch of Brookview Golf Course. "We got at least three more weekends left, keep your fingers crossed.
A lean September for many of the yard work business after one of the driest month's on record, has become quite a busy October.
"We got a lot busier in the fall, a lot of people don't like to rake the leaves cause the weather turns cold, it's pretty dirty work as well," said Uptown Lawn and Snow Removal's Todd Johnson.
Do-It-Yourselfers also hit Maple Grove's yard waste facility, dropping leaves off by the car and truck load. While in some areas you can toss your leaves now, in others it will be a couple of weeks. Be sure to check with your local yard waste facility.
