Stretching your wardrobe with scarves

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Want to add some quick sizzle to your look without spending a bundle? Think about adding some scarves with style.

Jodi Mayers of Corset Styling in Hopkins shows KARE 11 News @4 viewers some scarf basics.

Basic Loop (the next two ties will be variations of this one)
• Grab both ends of the scarf in one hand so that the scarf is doubled in half
• Center the scarf (in this form) around your neck
• Take both ends of the scarf and pull through the loop
• Straighten and fluff

European Loop
• Grab both ends of the scarf in one hand so that the scarf is doubled in half
• Center the scarf (in this form) around your neck
• Take one end of the scarf and pull it through the loop
• Twist the loop
• Pull the second end through the twisted loop
• Straighten and fluff

Broach Beauty
• Grab both ends of the scarf in one hand so that the scarf is doubled in half
• Center the scarf (in this form) around your neck
• Take one end of the scarf and pull it through the loop
• Twist the loop
• Pull the second end only half way through the loop
• Fold the partial loop upwards and toward your face
• Pin with a broach
• Straighten and fluff

The Waterfall
• Place scarf on neck so that one end is hanging with ¾ to one side and ¼ on the other
• Loop the long end around your neck once
• With the long end, take one tip of one corner and pull it to the opposite side of your neck
• Tie the two loose ends together in a knot and position/hide the knot under the "waterfall"
• Fluff

Slip Knot (Men's Tie)
• Center the scarf evenly around your neck
• At one end of the scarf, create a "tied knot" but leave the knot loose and open
• Take the other end of the scarf and pull it completely through the knot on the other side
• Tighten the slip knot to preferred location
• Fluff
