NEW RICHLAND, Minn. - A driver who lost her Chihuahua for six days after a fatal crash near New Richland has been reunited with the dog.

Mia had escaped a Jeep Cherokee driven by 34-year-old Waseca resident Mandi Kauffman after the vehicle collided with a motorcycle Sept. 8.

The bike's rider, 56-year-old Morristown resident Jon Geibe, died.

Kauffman returned with search parties to hunt for the dog, but was unsuccessful.

After some postings on social media, a farm family about a mile from the site called and reported seeing him. They caught him with a live trap Friday night.

Mia was about a pound and a half underweight but Kauffman says are happy to be reunited.

The Albert Lea Tribune reports authorities are still investigating who is at fault in the crash.
