EAU GALLE TOWNSHIP, Wis. -- A man is dead after he fired shots at police who were called to the man's house on a report he was suicidal and brandishing a gun.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's department says they secured the scene when they arrived Saturday evening.  Just after 9:00 p.m., the man exited the home carrying three firearms.

The man allegedly proceeded to fire at least two shots at the officers, striking a marked squad car, according to a release from the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.  Officials say the officers fired back, killing the man.

The three deputies involved have been placed on standard administrative leave as authorities investigate the incident.
