GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.-- The week of March 3-9, 2013 is National Problem Gambling Awareness Week. The theme of this year's campaign, "Problem Gambling: A Community Concern," emphasizes that problem gambling can affect anyone in any community.
This morning, Cathie Perrault, the executive director at Northstar Problem Gambling Alliance, joined us in-studio to tell us more.
According to the Alliance, problem gambling affects an estimated 160,000 to 214,000 Minnesotans and almost two-thirds of them don't know that the state pays for treatment of individuals with a gambling problem.
