According to a recent American College of Sports Medicine survey, one of the most popular fitness trends for 2013 is fitness programs for older adults.
Suzy Boerboom Co-owner of Welcyon Fitness After 50 shared some strategies for getting in shape in the new year.

2. Exercise has no age limit
Exercise has no age limit. You can make a difference with exercise even if you have never exercised before.
3. Better to be heavy and fit than skinny and sedentary. A lack of physical activity has more impact on mortality than the effects of smoking, obesity and diabetes combined.
4. Strength Training is essential to those over 50
Average aging adult loses 70% of muscle strength throughout life. The good news is that it is reversible.
5. Benefits of Exercise
There are countless benefits of exercise for older adults. Exercise can improve energy, diabetes stability, arthritis pain and balance. It can help maintain bone density and lead to weight loss and a better mood.
It can help you take control of your life and lead to increased independence.
