GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.- Whether you're giving them as a gift, or using them to decorate, flowers are always a nice touch for Valentine's Day. However, that doesn't mean you have to spend hundreds for perfectly-arranged bouquets.
Raed Kakish, Senior Floral Designer from Indulge and Bloom and Rosakers's flowers, joined KARE 11 News at 4 to talk about Valentines, roses and other expressions of love filled blooms.
Raed says to try do-it-yourself arrangements. He says it can be as simple as tulips in a pot.
Also, here's Raed's tip for how to get more life out of those expensive blooms:
1. When you start seeing one rose wilting, take your roses and bunch them in your hand. Cut the stems really short so they don't have to work so hard to hydrate. Put them in shallow water or a shorter vase.
2. Use a preservative packet. It kills the bacteria, adds PH to the water and adds nourishment.
You can see more of Raed's ideas at Indulge and Bloom and Rosacker's Flowers, now at Calhoun Commons.
