GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - If you're a guy that likes denim, military influences, or stripes, you'll love this spring's trends in men's fashion.
Carrie Erickson and Leah McMullen of Blackjove, a local men's styling and personal shopping duo, joined KARE 11 News @4 to show viewers the new looks and trends in menswear for spring and summer.
Look 1: The lighter color denim is really big for this coming season. It's a great option for denim heads who are looking for something fresh. We think this shirt is a great example especially pairing it with a clean, modern Barbour jacket from Askov. You'll notice that we have floral and plaid mixed together in this outfit. It's done in moderation and paired with basics, so it's not a stuffy look but more fun and fresh for spring.

Look 2: Check out these basic army green shorts. You will notice there are no cargo pockets to be seen. We'd like to encourage the men of Minnesota to step away from the khaki cargo short and wear something more grown up and tailored. If you're more of a t-shirt guy, buy yourself a few nice, soft, fitted fresh and clean tshirts! Always a good thing to have clean shirts, without pit stains, to start your summer right. We really encourage our clients to try a lot of t-shirts on until we find the perfect fit and fabric for them, then buy a bunch of colors! We love this button down from MP3 because there is definite color, but it's muted and therefore really wearable. We're also seeing these five-panel hats everywhere. It's a fun new twist on a baseball cap.

Look 3: There's a lot of railroad denim happening right now. We love this jacket because it follows that trend but in a more upscale, classic way. The plaid shirt is short sleeved and it a great layering piece. We would really love to see guys moving away from the basic collared polo shirt around town, and keep them to the golf course. This is another great tie from local company Pierrepont Hicks. There's a lot going on up top in this outfit, but we've anchored it down with this amazing Made and Crafted Levi's jean from Askov.
