GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - 'Tis the season for garage sales and D-I-Y expert Bruce Johnson stopped by KARE 11 @ 4 to give tips on how to reuse, repurpose and recycle to save money and create clever designs for the home.
Bruce says picture frames are a flea market staple and walks viewers through an easy DIY project that repurposes and transforms a wood frame into an attractive jewelry holder.
He also had an idea for storage solutions for the bedroom. If overflowing drawers and packed closets are driving you crazy, Bruce created under the bed storage by recycling old dresser drawers that are readily found at garage sales.
Bruce is also in Minneapolis to present the 2012 Do Good with Wood Award to the Minneapolis Public Schools Assistive Technology Center Volunteers.
This group has tirelessly created equipment which has benefited the lives of children with disabilities. They've logged over 30,000 volunteer hours and as of last June have saved the district a half a million dollars.
The award includes a $5,000 cash prize courtesy of Minwax.
