GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- On Thursday, Feb. 9, some of the Twin Cities' most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes will be auctioned off at the biggest fundraising event of the season.

This will be the fourth annual Date for Life and the event features a silent auction with some of the top bachelors and bachelorettes on the list.

Lynn Poferl, Date For Life Chair and Jamie Messina, bachelor and participant, joined KARE 11 News @ 4 to talk about this year's event.

The bachelors and bachelorettes create some incredible dates that people can bid on and the proceeds go to Children's Cancer Research Fund.

There are also some big ticket items that are auctioned off in a live auction.

Jamie Messina is one of the bachelors being auctioned off this year. He was auctioned off last year as well and his date raised $4,500.

The event was created in memory of Katie Jurek, the daughter of the former owner of It's Just Lunch, in the hope that this effort will help other children and families suffering from the effects of childhood cancer.

The new owner of It's Just Lunch and staff wanted to do something to honor Katie, as her strength through her battle with cancer touched the lives of everyone in the office.
