GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Heart disease is the deadliest disease in American men and women, killing more than 600,000 each year. Yet 80 percent of heart disease is preventable.
Dr. Martha Grogan, a Mayo Clinic cardiologist says there are easy-to-understand heart healthy tips that might change and save their lives.
Dr. Grogan's tips are detailed in the "Mayo Clinic Healthy Heart for Life!", a book composed of four sections that helps you build a heart healthy life.
One sections in the book advocates an Eat 5; Move 10 and Sleep 8 program. The idea is simple -- eat five servings of fruits and vegetables daily; move at least 10 extra minutes a day, even if it means standing at your desk, and get eight solid hours of sleep each night.
