GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Power is the ability to motivate others to do what you want them to do. And according to Terry Moore, attorney with Hellmuth & Johnson and author of "Big Force Negotiation: Power in negotiations comes from development of eight skills."
Moore's new book, "Big Force Negotiation" offers up advice on how to negotiate anything from the price of a car, getting a raise and even working out something with your child.
Some basic tips Moore shared with us on KARE 11 News @ 4 included the following:
1) You have to prepare
2) Research the topic
3) Set your goal
4) Determine what is the worst that could happen and your Best alternative to a negotiated agreement (BATNA)
5) Plan how you think the negotiations will play out
