GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Bullying happens every day, probably in every school. Now there is a musical aimed at kids that empowers them to stop being bystanders and "stand up" to bullies.
It's entitled "MEAN the Musicial" and it's staged by the Youth Performance Company of Minneapolis.
Jacie Knight, Founder of Youth Performance Company and
Nathalie Young, a student at Southwest High School in Minneapolis, joined KARE 11 News @ 4 to share more.
Nathalie plays Taylor, the young woman who is bullied because of her weight. Other threads concern a young woman who is confronted because of her religion and a young man who encounters problems because of his "perceived" sexuality.
It opens today and runs through Oct. 28th at the Howard Conn Fine Arts Center, 1900 Nicollet Avenue (corner of Franklin and Nicollet in Minneapolis).
