GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Are you stressed out by all the multi-tasking you are doing? Dr. Courtney Baechler, a cardiologist for Allina Health, says to slow down and just breathe.
She joined KARE 11 News @ 4 with some simple steps to remove the stress from your life.
1) Just breathe - Studies show that simply taking time to breathe can lower your bodies stress hormones. When your boss tells you something you were hoping not to hear, take a long, deep breath.
2) Take time for yourself - Women are so busy taking care of everyone else (your children, spouse, employees, parents, friends) that we often forget to take time for ourselves. Set some time for yourself on your outlook calendar, just like your regular appointments. It's a hard lesson to learn, but if we don't take care of ourselves, we won't be around to take care of anyone else.
3) Learn to "shelf-it!" - So many times, we let the day-to-day stress get to us. Whether it's an unpredicted snow storm or a bad day at work, ask yourself whether this bad moment will define the rest of your day. Learning how to "shelf" something and move on with your day will allow to you to be much more resilient, using positive energy to focus on the many wonderful attributes of your life.
4) Don't cut out your sleep! - Sleep is a time for healing and restoration.
