GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.-'Tis the season of giving, but it's not just people who are on the minds of some. What "Toys For Tots" does for children, dog lovers are hoping to do with "The Great Minnesota Pet Food Drive."
The Twin Cities Dog Daycare Association has launched the inaugural "Great Minnesota Pet Food Drive," running from now through December 15, 2012.
The public is urged to drop off food, money or new supplies to any of the participating businesses to benefit local pet non-profits, such as The Pet Project, an organization that helps families avoid surrendering beloved pets by providing pet food.
Donations will also be distributed to various local shelters and rescue organizations.
WHEN: November 1 - Dec. 15, 2012
WHERE: Bins are located in the lobbies of the following dog daycare facilities:
- Dog Days, 350 University Ave. S; 2120 Myrtle Ave and 1752 Grand Ave., all in St. Paul
- Downtown Dogs, 821 2nd Ave. N, downtown Minneapolis
- Dog Day Getaway, 6950 146th St. W, #128, Apple Valley
- Pampered Pooch, 7020 Walker St, St. Louis Park
WHY: "It's so important that our organizations give back to the non-profits that help pets, especially during the holiday season," said Anne Hendrickson of Downtown Dogs.
"All the participating organizations have challenged each other to a friendly competition to see who can collect the most."
