GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Are your dreams of a White Christmas centered on ice fishing?

John Nelson of the St. Paul Ice Fishing & Winter Sports Show joined KARE 11 News @4 for the hottest ice fishing gadgets on ice.

Top 5 items that every Minnesotan should have when ice fishing:

1. Vexilar DTD camera: It's a full sized, color, underwater viewing system. Used for finding and watching fish under the ice as well as looking for weeds, rock and other structure under the ice.
It's also a great item for keeping kids and new anglers entertained as well as a very good learning tool. This camera has available depth, water temperature and camera direction that shows on screen.

2. ION electric ice auger
It is a 40 volt, lithium ion, battery powered ice auger.
It's almost half of the weight of a gas powered auger and at 24 pounds it will drill up to 1000 inches of ice per charge. For example, that's about 50 holes through 20 inches of ice.
Also, it has no smell! No gas to mix! Nothing to spill in the truck!

3. "Clam" pop-up 6 pack hub houses: These are a fully collapsible ice house that weighs about 60 pounds and is carried in a shoulder bag. Cost is less than $400 and each house can accommodate 4 people or more.

4. Jason Mitchell rods/Clam Spooler combos/Thorne Bros custom rods:
Dave Genz has been father of modern ice fishing and has lent his name to some ice fishing rod and reel combos for the whole family. Jason Mitchell is another well known angler from the Dakotas and has brought his experience and expertise to some of the ice rods from The Clam family.
Clam spooler combos take advantage of one of the hottest trends in ice fishing. By using a fly rel the line twist is greatly diminished while fishing.

5. "Ice team" is a way to learn and enjoy the sport of ice fishing. By joining "ice team" one can take advantage of the "ice annual" for tactics and info, instructional videos, fishing reports and fishing forums found on "ice teams" website.
