Orono PD looking for man who 'vanished'

ORONO, Minn. - Orono Police are asking for the public's help finding a 34-year-old man who has not been seen for over a week.

Todd Lawrence Lano was last seen May 31 in Orono, but authorities say he lives in Mound. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and 140 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. Authorities say he has a tribal tattoo circling one bicep and a barbed wire tattoo circling the other.

Orono Police Detective Jane Szczepanik says Lano has had no contact with family or his girlfriend since May 31 and does not have a cell phone. She says the disappearance is highly unusual and police are concerned for his wellbeing.

"He literally just vanished," Szczepanik says.

Lano's mother, Pam Lano, says her son was wearing shorts and a cutoff T-shirt, and may have some facial hair by now.

She says Lano was picked up by police after becoming "out of it a little bit" and sitting on the steps of a different home. She says he had gone to an AA meeting the night of May 30 and was supposed to be at a job interview the morning he disappeared.

The family has put posters up all over Mound, Maple Plain and Long Lake.

"We've been going door to door, too," she said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Orono Police at 952-249-4700 or call 911.
