MOUNDS VIEW, Minn.- One in every 200 people is living with an underlying heart condition that, if undetected, can lead to sudden cardiac death. The Play for Patrick Foundation is offering free Youth Heart Screenings Saturday, September 17 at Mounds View High school.
Patrick Schoonover collapsed and died after a hockey game in November 2014. Patrick’s heart condition was never detected during exams or physicals. The Schoonover family is working with the University of Minnesota Physicians Heart clinics to educate and inform families about heart defects and to help make heart scans more accessible and affordable.
The screenings are open to kids 14-18. The process is private and takes less time than finding pokemon! (45-60 minutes) For more information on what to expect at a screening, please visit our participant page: www.playforpatrick.org/participantinfo
