Reynolds' daughter in squad video: 'I could keep you safe'

Diamond Reynolds' daughter: 'I can keep you safe.'

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - Newly released video shows Diamond Reynolds' 4-year-old daughter pleading with her mom to be quiet so she wouldn't be "shooted."

The video of the two in the back of a police cruiser was recorded moments after St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez fired seven times at Philando Castile, killing him.

“Mom, please stop cussing and screaming ‘cause I don’t want you to get shooted,” the girl said.

“Ok, give me a kiss,” Reynolds replied. “My phone just died.”

“I could keep you safe,” the girl said.

“It’s OK, I got it, OK?” Reynolds responded. “I can’t believe they just did that.”

The girl hugged her mother, then began to cry.

The exchange took place shortly after Reynold's phone died. She had been streaming the shooting aftermath on Facebook Live.

The squad car video was released Tuesday by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, along with dash cam video and several other photos, interviews and more. KARE 11's Lou Raguse says this video was not shown during Yanez's trial.

Last week, a jury acquitted Yanez of all three charges he faced, including manslaughter.
