GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Ted Chalupsky from The Right Staff talks about the second quarter slowdown and the current economic climate.
Current economic state:
The job market is currently adjusting to the payroll tax increases that began in 2013, along with the rise in gas prices, and the sequester tax. Hiring may see a decline in the second quarter with a rise to start in the third and fourth quarter.
Unemployment rates are expected to stay at or under 5% in the Twin Cities by January 2014.
Tip of the month:
Get a job search coach. Ask someone you know to keep you on track and accountable during your job search. Be sure to do a job search daily and have your job coach double check that you have.
You should check in with your job coach daily and choose someone that can give you advice, help you structure your daily routine, someone that will be neutral, honest, and constructively critical to help motivate you. Your job coach can be anyone from a former boss, to a clergy, or just someone you trust to help keep you on task.
