GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- After losing his job in 2008 due to the economic recession, Eric Glennie borrowed thousands of dollars from his 401k to buy samples and start a fashion business.
Fascinated by lines and manipulating lines to create different looks, Eric discovered the congruent necktie completely by accident. He took a plain white tie and tied a four in hand tie knot, used a marker to map out the stripes with the necktie tied, and then untied the tie. He then had his prototype for the inline, congruent necktie.
He knew the congruent necktie was special and unique so he applied for patent application on the diagonal, horizontal, vertical, single stripe, and half stripe congruent necktie and received US patents on all 5 of these designs.
His ties are worn by ESPN anchors nationally along with many local news personalities.
Eric has also designed cutout shirt collars, cutout visor baseball hats, and bevel bottom blue jeans and pants.
