Escape winter with some Joia tropical drinks

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- The cold and gloomy days of winter can make one's desire for a getaway even more prevalent. Joai Soda co-founder Dan Oskey hopes these tropical drinks brings a little winter escape to KARE 11 viewers.

The all natural soda company launched in the Twin Cities in 2011 and has had great success. The combination of fruits, herbs and spices create layers of fresh flavors. Made with real fruit juice and sweetened with pure cane sugar, the sodas contain no high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, caffeine or sodium and is gluten free, the sodas are a tasty and healthy choice.

Non-Alcoholic

Joia Island Snowball:

In a tall parfait glass add:
1 Scoop Pineapple Sherbet
6 oz. Joia Pineapple, Coconut & Nutmeg
Garnish with slice of fresh pineapple
Optional garnish: sprinkle of cocoa powder and dried banana chips

Joia Lime Breaker:

Muddle 10 fresh blueberries, 6-8 fresh mint leaves, 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice and 1 teaspoon of agave syrup in the bottom of a cocktail shaker and add 6 oz. Joia Lime, Hibiscus & Clove
Cover, shake and strain over ice in a tall, Tom Collins glass
Garnish with fresh mint leaves and fresh blueberries

Alcoholic

Joia Tropical Nights:

In a cocktail shaker mix:
1 oz. Gosling's Black Seal Rum (or other dark rum)
½ oz. Velvet Falernum (can substitute amaretto)
Squeeze of fresh lime
4 oz. Joia Pineapple, Coconut & Nutmeg
Shake and strain into a stemmed martini glass
Garnish with a twist of fresh lime
