Rochester, Minn.--   The Mayo Clinic will be sponsoring the first Minnesota walk for eating disorders on Sunday September 9th.

The walk will take place at the Mall of America in Bloomington and proceeds from the event will help fund the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). Eating disorders have become a very serious and widespread problem in the U.S. with 10 millions females and 1 million males fighting against this disease.

A patient in the Mayo Clinic Eating Disorders program, Elizabeth, says if you suspect someone of having an eating disorder you should talk to the parent, and not the person directly due to the person possibility taking their disorder as a compliment about their thinness. Elizabeth also point out how advertising and society does not help those who suffer from eating disorders by portraying the "perfect" body as they do.
