GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - This year, the average family will spend anywhere between $630 to $830 on school-bound students.
While that's down from last year, it's still a big chunk of change.
Luckily, there are some ways to save on things from dorm rooms to textbooks.
Catherine Rice, the Accounting Program Chair at the Minnesota School of Business, Brought along her apps and some tips to KARE 11 Sunrise, and helped us find those good deals.
Websites like ebates.com and extrabux.com take less than a minute to sign up for, and direct shoppers to hundreds of online stores, and do all the couponing for you.
Also, Rice says the website hukkster.com is great comparison shopper.
For students whose schools don't have an e-book textbook program. Rice suggests renting from their college stores (if available) or checkout online vendors such as Amazon.com or Chegg.com.
