GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - It's that time of year when your high schooler may be bringing home information on course registration for next year.
If college is in your student's future, you should help make sure they are taking the right classes now.
Valerie Broughton, from College Connectors, helps families navigate the path from high school to college, and joined KARE 11 Sunrise, with some advice on how to choose the right courses.
- Enroll in the toughest classes you can handle.
- Leave all options open. Broughton says that's particularly important for incoming freshmen. Not choosing wisely now could leave you short on the type of classes you need for proper college prep.
- Graduation requirements for high school may not be equal to admission requirements for the college of your choice.
- Don't forget to stay involved in your community and other extra curriculars.
College Connectors is holding a seminar on college prep Tuesday, January 17th in Eden Prairie. It is open to the public and of particular interest for high school juniors. For more information click on seminar.
