Star Tribune's downtown land sold to developer

MINNEAPOLIS - The Star Tribune announced Tuesday it has sold its downtown Minneapolis campus to Ryan Companies.

The Star Tribune news release did not have the price of the deal but previous reports put the price around $38 million.

The deal clears the way for a $400 million development project called "Downtown East" to be built near the new Vikings stadium.

Ryan Companies plans to build office towers, apartments, stores and restaurants, a parking ramp and a park.
