GIST, or gastrointestinal stromal tumor, is a rare cancer diagnosed in about 4,000 to 5,000 people a year in this country.
Terri Goembel was one of them. She lost her fight, but she inspired her friends to raise awareness and raise money for the GIST Cancer Research Fund.
The fundraiser is Friday, June 29th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Knights of Columbus in Bloomington.
The evening features live music from Fu-Ga-We Tribe band, appetizers, silent auction, and blood drive.
