Vera Bradley notifies customers of possible data breach

Vera Bradley is alerting customers of a possible data breach.

The company says credit cards used at Vera Bradley stores between July 25, 2016 and Sept. 23, 2016 "may have" been affected.

An investigation into the data security issue revealed an unauthorized program that tracked data from the magnetic strip of a credit card, in order to gain access to the card number, expiration date, cardholder name and internal verification code.

Vera Bradley says it doesn't appear any other customer information was at risk.

Customers are encouraged to keep an eye on their banking statements to ensure no unauthorized charges are made.

Vera Bradley has retail stores at Southdale, Mall of America and the Twin Cities Premium Outlets in Eagan.
