GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Feeling a little stressed these days? Then here's a good recipe for relaxation, and the ingredients can be found in your kitchen cabinets. Muzique Broadnax from Euphoric Ambience, of Minneapolis, stopped by KARE 11 Today with some homemade aromatherapy treatments and some good advice.
Sugar Scrub
4 oz of white sugar
4oz of brown sugar
1.5-2oz of olive oil
15-20 drops of aromatherapy of your choice
Find an 8 oz container for this recipe. If you would like to use a smaller jar, you want to make sure you divide the white and brown sugar equally to equal the exact jar measurements.
Add 4oz of brown sugar then add 4oz of white sugar. Mix sugars until equally mixed together. You can use a blender or a spoon. After equally mixed start adding half of your olive oil to the sugar. Let it bubble and sink down to the bottom, then add the remaining oil. After oil is fully settled, take a spoon and stir until sugar is equally drenched with oil. Add 15-20 drops of your favorite aromatherapy. You can use a single note or blend 2-3 of the essential to achieve the aroma your heart desires!
Sea Salt Scrub
1/2 cup (4oz) of fine grained sea salt
2 tbsp (1oz) of coarse kosher salt
5 tbsp of sunflower
Around 15 drop lavender of essential oil
1/2 tsp dried lavender buds optional
Add all ingredients in a bowl. Mix well with a rubber spatula, kneading several times to fully hydrate the salt. Let sit for 10min, so oil can fully saturate the grains.
You can then adjust the amount of oil or salt if needed. You want it to be thick and slushy like. Scrub should hold together if you pick it up. Oil should not drip off a handful of scrub. This means its too wet.
