MINNEAPOLIS - What started as a food truck is now the newest restaurant in the North Loop. Smack Shack opened last Friday after much anticipation. Restaurant goers reported waits of up to two hours on opening night.

The Smack Shack food truck began operation in 2010 and later started cooking out of The 1029 Bar in northeast Minneapolis during the Winter.

The new restaurant is located in a historic building, built in the early 1900's.

KARE 11's Bryan Piatt spent the morning there, checking out some of the items on the menu including a lobster boil, lobster roll and lobster guacamole.

Smack Shack opens at 5 p.m., but will open it's doors for lunch at 11 a.m. Reservation are encouraged and can be placed on the Smack Shack website, by calling 612-259-7288 or on Facebook.
