MINNEAPOLIS - A Richfield man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a shooting last summer in as restroom at the Franklin Library, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.
Timothy L. Harper, 24, pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree assault on Tuesday. He is accused of shoooting a man from behind in the restroom while he was brushing his teeth. The victim is paralyzed from the shooting.
The Hennepin County Attorney's Office said that Harper is expected to be sentenced to seven years and two months in prison. He will be sentenced April 15.
At about 12:30 p.m. on June 13, police found a man lying on the floor of the restroom with his legs tucked under him. Surveillance video showed Harper follow the man into the bathroom and later Harper coming out of the bathroom, tucking what appeared to be a gun into his waistband.
It took more than a month of investigation to identify Harper and provide the evidence against him, prosecutors said.
