ANDOVER, Minn. - Anoka County authorities are looking into whether several grass fires in Andover on Saturday were intentionally set.
Anoka County Dispatch says they received the first call at 5:05 p.m. about a fire near Bunker Lake Boulevard and Hanson Boulevard. Within an hour, according to dispatch, there were as many as 10 fires reported in the area.
Dispatch is calling the fires "suspicious" as there were so many reported in such a short amount of time. Firefighters were able to put out the fires within a couple of hours.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters, and no structures were damaged.
The MnDNR assisted in fighting the fires, along with the Andover, Coon Rapids, Ham Lake, Anoka-Champlin, and Oak Grove Fire Departments.
