ROSEVILLE, Minn. -- The Roseville Police Department is investigating the death of an unknown male who led police on a three-mile chase.
The pursuit began around 9:30 p.m. Saturday evening after the suspect failed to stop when police attempted to pull him over for a tail light violation. The suspect increased speed heading north on Cleveland towards County Road E2 when Police briefly lost sight of the vehicle.
The abandoned vehicle was located in a wooded area north of the intersection of Cleveland and County Road E2 when Police began a canine track that led them to the south side of Ferrel's Lake.
Officers spotted the suspect in the lake appearing to have difficulty staying afloat when they attempted to rescue him. Unable to locate the man water rescue was requested.
New Brighton and Lake Johanna Fire Department Water Rescue Teams recovered the man's body around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. Officials say the body was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The man is believed to have drowned.
The Roseville Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident and will release information as it comes forward.
