BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. - A motorcyclist is dead after swerving while trying to avoid colliding with a deer in central Wisconsin Tuesday night.
The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a 911 call reporting a crash Oakridge Road just north of State Highway 27 in Jackson County near Black River Falls. When troopers arrived on the scene they found the victim, who had been thrown from his motorcycle, laying in the middle of the road.
Preliminary reports say the motorcyclist swerved to avoid the deer, lost control of his machine and tipped over, throwing the man off. Investigators report that the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
First responders called in an air ambulance to transport the man to aL hospital but on the way he died of his injuries.
