GRANITE FALLS, Minn. - Bail has been set at $3 million for the man accused of fatally shooting his former girlfriend and her boyfriend in Granite Falls.
Andrew Dikken was dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit with his hands cuffed and tied to a restraint belt.
Judge Thomas Van Hon called Dikken an extreme flight risk in setting the $3 million bail with no conditions.
The courtroom was packed with family members of both victims, Kara Monson and Chris Panitzke. A number of Dikken's relatives were present as well.
Thursday's appearance was the Rule 5 hearing, during which the judge made sure Dikken had received a copy of criminal complaint, and understands his legal right to an attorney and a trial. It's also made clear that he does not have to take the stand in his own defense.
The next hearing for Andrew Dikken is set for October 3 at 10:45 a.m.
